In the superhero movie arms race, one spot where the Marvel Cinematic Universe has established a near-unquestioned dominance is in the realm of costumes; with character after character (apart from the rare exception) showing up looking closer to their often outlandish/impractical comic book selves than fans would’ve dared to hope even a decade ago. Marvel’s Netflix shows, on the other hand, have thus far eschewed faithful adherence for something closer to realism, with Daredevil (Charlie Cox) in muted tactical armor and neither Luke Cage (Mike Colter) nor Iron First (Finn Jones) expected to appear in their famously flashy original ’70s threads....

Since then, Kal-El has been the epitome of truth, justice, and hope in pop media culture. After his stint on the pages of the comics, Superman eventually came to the big screen, but it was Richard Donner’s famous Superman live-action film in 1978 that truly catapulted the character to mainstream consciousness....

The upcoming Black Adam movie will change the balance of power in the DCEU. Dwayne Johnson signed up to play Black Adam over a decade ago, and he’ll finally make his DCEU debut in 2021. At first, viewers assumed Johnson would appear as the villain in Shazam!, a film that was strongly influenced by Geoff Johns’ run - which featured Black Adam. DC took a different direction, intending to position Black Adam as an antihero rather than Billy Batson’s nemesis....

Another DC property will be making its way to the small screen soon, Black Lightning. Adding to the three series’ on order and nine in development, DC could be the largest content producer on television with as many as 21 properties at once. Originally not part of the CW’s Arrowverse, Black Lightning was slated to be joining Gotham and Lucifer on Fox. However, for unknown reasons, the show left Fox (even after being ordered to pilot) and has landed on The CW after all....

In the latest instance of a film being adapted for the small screen, NBC is set to turn 1999 crime thriller The Bone Collector into a TV series. While movies making the jump to TV is by no means a new phenomenon, recent years have seen a sharp uptick in the amount of such projects. Hannibal Lecter went from devouring the rude in films to bizarrely romancing Will Graham in Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal series, Sam Raimi’s horror hero Ash Williams began slaying Deadites on Starz’s Ash vs Evil Dead, and even The Omen’s antichrist Damien Thorn found new (albeit brief) life on A&E’s Damien, just to name a few examples....

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger could resolve a major dropped plot thread from Agent Carter Season 2. In the comics, the character of Cloak is traditionally associated with an interdimensional energy known as the Darkforce. The team behind Dead or Alive 6 posted an apology for the latest in-game microtransaction feature, which involves changing the hair color of the playable character. Published by Koei Tecno Games, the fighting game was first announced at E3 2018, then hit the shelves in early 2019. Announced in early March, the hair color feature is exclusive to the PS4 version of Dead or Alive 6. If players want to change the playable character’s hair, they’re required to use one premium ticket, which costs real money, around $1 each....
